“British Gov't to Set Up Gambling Commission!”
British Parliament passes the Gambling Bill!
The British Parliament has passed the Gambling Bill in spite of all
the doubts from industry analysts. However, the Bill was designed to upgrade
and improve Britain’s old-fashioned gaming regulations, and hardly
addressed the online gambling industry. An important result of the Bill
will be to establish a regulating commission for Britain’s gambling
industry. The main focus of the new legislation will be online gambling,
which has seen phenomenal growth in interest in the last few years.
According to Anthony Wright, the department spokesman, the commission,
while it will not be able to regulate online casinos outside of Britain,
will be able to “investigate, prosecute, impose fines, and void
bets they consider unfair”.
The commission will comprise of approximately 100 investigators assigned
to regulate the industry and should be operational within a few months.
