“Chartwell Technology Welcomes Move Towards Online Gambling”
Britain is first G-7 country to approve legislation for online gambling.
Britain has become the first G-7 country to establish a set of rules
and regulations for the online gambling industry. Britain’s approval
this week of legislation that will introduce regulated online gambling
has many people in the Internet gambling industry cheering.
Lee Richardson, CEO of one such company, Chartwell Technology, stated
that the legislation will help create online gambling environments that
are safe from fraud, scams and cons. Richardson also said that the introduction
of this legislation, which is likely to go into effect in the UK in 2006,
will probably influence other European nations in taking similar action.
Chartwell, a Canadian-based online gambling software maker traded on
the Toronto Stock Exchange, were delighted with the news which sent its
shares ten cents to $10.95 in midday trading.
