"Internet Gambling Stocks Boast Remarkable Growth"

Online poker sends Sporting Bet and BetandWin stocks soaring.

Many people connected to the gambling industry are of the opinion that the rapid growth of the online gambling industry has to peter out soon. They argue that such dramatic growth cannot continue at the same frantic pace.

But optimists in the gambling industry point at the new developing technologies that will make the online gambling more even more accessible and more popular. 3G cell phones, cheaper and faster broadband connections and interactive television technology where the T.V. doubles as a computer will in all likelihood make online gambling more accessible, simpler and faster. It is difficult to find a reason why online gambling will not keep mushrooming in popularity. In fact the new technologies will allow whole new segments of the population to play in online casinos.

A company of experts on the online gambling industry, Global Betting and Gaming Consultants (GBGC), are proponents of this second view. Lead partner at the consulting firm, Warwick Barlett, said “betting will be so easy from home that future growth is assured”.

Further proof of GBGC’s prediction comes from two online gambling companies, Sporting Bet and BetandWin. They have seen their stock values growing in leaps and bounds in the past year.

The figures bear this out; SportingBet saw a 360 percent increase in stock prices within the last 12 months, with 250 percent growth since January 2005, alone. SportingBet acquired the online poker site, Pacific Poker, in the final quarter of 2004. BetandWin jumped to 19 th place in April, up from January’s 42 nd place on GBGC’s Global Gambling 50 index of the top Internet gambling companies. BetandWin enjoys a partnership with the Poker Pulse network.

The remarkable popularity of online poker, is no doubt, a driving force in these companies’ success. Both recorded a surge in their company stock values after getting into the poker business either by acquisition or by a partnership with poker.
